We honor the sacrifices of nearly 234,000 men and women who fought to protect our freedoms, died, and are buried or missing away from the homeland, as well as the millions of others who have served with honor and distinction when called to duty.
Through education and outreach, we ensure that their legacy remains relevant so that future generations may live in liberty.
The hallowed grounds of our American military cemeteries and memorials overseas stand as a tangible reminder of America’s engagement with her allies in support of democracy and the God-given right for each person to live in freedom. As such, they are a first line of American public diplomacy.
